Cryo Pro-X™ is a professional-use gel that utilises thermal homeostasis to exfoliate. Dead cells freeze, fracture, and fall away when exposed to polylactic and glycolic acid in cold temperatures. This process removes the top layer of dead skin cells while protecting the healthy living cells beneath.
What is cryotherapy?
Cryotherapy, which means “cold therapy,” is a technique in which the body is exposed to extremely cold temperatures for several minutes.
Cryotherapy can be delivered to just one area, or you can opt for whole-body cryotherapy. Localised cryotherapy can be administered in several ways, including through ice packs, ice massages, coolant sprays, ice baths, and even through probes administered into tissue.
The theory for whole-body cryotherapy (WBC) is that by immersing the body in extremely cold air for several minutes, you could receive several health benefits. The individual will stand in an enclosed chamber or a small enclosure that surrounds their body but has an opening for their head at the top. The enclosure will drop to between negative 200–300°F. They’ll stay in the ultra-low temperature air for between two and four minutes.
You can get benefits from just one session of cryotherapy, but it’s most effective when used regularly. Some athletes use cryotherapy twice a day. Others will go daily for 10 days and then once a month afterwards.
What are the benefits of cryotherapy for your skin?
The health and beauty industry has long turned to nature for inspiration for not only herbal and organic skin treatments but safe and effective therapies for a more youthful appearance.
Cryotherapy can cause the blood vessels in the dermal layer of the skin to contract. However, straight after a cryotherapy treatment, the blood vessels dilate. This process first oxygenates the blood and then delivers this blood, with healing enzymes and nutrients, to every part of the body. This may increase the production of collagen, which improves the elasticity and firmness of the skin. The immune system may be boosted, and toxins removed from the body through the lymphatic system, which may help in the reduction of the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles cellulite.
DMK’s Cryo Pro-X uses the same scientific research in cryotherapy and applies these principles to skin experiencing dermatitis, acne, rosacea, hyperpigmentation and advanced sun damage, leaving a tighter, glowing complexion.
What makes DMK’s Cryo Pro-X formulation stand out?
Polylactic acid: PLLA has been used to make dissolvable sutures, dermal fillers, and injectables that increase facial volume and stimulate collagen production. It is biocompatible, helping recreate a youthful contour while diminishing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Glycolic acid: An alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) that penetrates quickly to clear surface cells and extracellular build-up. It acts as a water binder and pulls fluid into the epidermis to improve barrier function, soften the skin, reduce signs of photoaging and promote cell turnover. Glycolic acid also stimulates collagen synthesis and renews the surface, breaking up the pigment and brightening the skin.
Camellia sinensis leaf extract (green tea): Contains vitamins A, B2, C, and Green tea is antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, photo-protective, and contains
polyphenol compounds that inhibit tyrosinase and lighten the pigment. It also contains catechin, an antioxidant and astringent that controls sebum production and reduces pore size.
Cocos nucifera oil (coconut): Coconut oil is an occlusive oil of medium-chain fatty acids. It reduces inflammation, is antimicrobial, and oxidizes slowly because of its high saturated fat content. Coconut oil has also proved to speed wound healing by influencing various aspects of biological activity, including fibroblast proliferation, neovascularisation, and reduced lipid peroxide levels.
